We are now in the Christmas season! I thought it might be fun to talk about Christmas traditions. Hmm, but what is a tradition?
Tradition (noun)– a belief, principle, or way of acting that people in a particular society or group have continued to follow for a long time
Every country that celebrates Christmas has different traditions that are unique. For example, in some European countries Christmas Eve is a big deal – very important to them. More so than for people in the UK who celebrate on Christmas Day.
Every family also have their own special traditions that are different to other families. Some people go to church at Midnight on Christmas Eve, while others go on Christmas day, or not at all.
Even if you don’t celebrate Christmas in your culture or religion, there’s no reason why you can’t enjoy some of the festive cheer.
In this video, which has a focus on vocabulary, I talk about some of the traditions that are special to my family, my country (Australia) and my adopted country (the UK). I also share my top 10 favourite festive sweet treats!
