Words with Confusing Prefixes

Recently, I have been looking at lots of confusing pairs of words. False synonyms, false antonyms, contranyms. Intermediate and advanced!

But today’s words do not come in pairs. These words are stand alone and have a misleading de- or dis- prefix, which makes them look like they should be antonyms, but… they aren’t.  Watch today’s video to find out about these crazy words, their meanings and how to use them in a sentence.

The 6 words covered today are:

Delude
Denigrate
Deracinate
Devour
Disgruntled
Distraught

I hope you find it helpful. As always, comments can be left under the video on YouTube.

Until next time!
