Today I’m going to write my bucket list, but I need your help. While I am doing this, maybe you could write yours?
But what is a bucket list? It comes from this expression – to kick the bucket – which is a light-hearted way of saying “to die” without actually having to say the word. People really do not like having to say THAT word!
Making a bucket list has become quite popular in western culture in recent years. This is a list of the things you would like to do or achieve before you “kick the bucket”.
You can have serious things on your list- hopes, dreams and ambitions for the future. For example – win a Nobel prize, or start a business. But it doesn’t have to be serious – it can be ANYTHING you want to do, even silly, funny things.
After doing something especially exciting, you might have heard someone say, “Oh cross that one off the list!” They are not referring to their daily “to do” list – feed the cat, wash the dishes etc. No, they are talking about their bucket list.
We are going to have a bit of fun with this today and maybe learn a few expressions along the way.
Be sure to write some of your “bucket list” ideas in the comments section (on YouTube)! What exciting things have you already crossed off your bucket list?
Until next time!
